Authority to control post and electronic communications: more than 5 million fixed-line subscribers in Algeria – Al-Hiwar Al-Jazaeryia

The Post and Electronic Communications Control Authority published a detailed tally of the number of fixed and mobile phone subscribers in Algeria.

The number of subscribers to fixed-line networks in Algeria on December 31 of the year 2022 exceeded a total of 5.57 million subscribers, compared to 5.09 million during the same period in the year 2021, an increase of 9.40 percent.
The source indicated that 5.12 million subscribers out of a total of 5.57 in fixed-line networks are residents, while 450,093 others are professional subscribers, adding that 3.66 million subscribers out of fixed-line subscribers are connected to wired networks and 1.42 million are connected to wireless and fourth-generation fixed-telephone networks.

The outcome revealed that the percentage of subscribers to fixed wired telephone networks reached 75.80 percent by the end of December 2022, with an increase of 6.4 percent of subscribers.

The number of subscribers to the fiber optic network reached 478,172, compared to 167,244 during the same period last year.

The rate of connection to fixed-line networks witnessed a slight increase of 1.06 percent during one year, reaching 12.63 percent at the end of December 2022, compared to 11.57 percent during the same period in 2021.

For reference, this outcome was prepared based on a population of 44.14 million people and 7.35 million households as of December 31, 2022.
