Attaf talks about the importance of the African Union’s participation in the G20 – New Algeria

The Minister of State confirmed, Minister of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad and African affairs, Ahmed Attaf, today, Thursday in Addis Ababa, emphasized the importance of optimal preparation for the African Union’s participation in the G20, expressing hope Algeria This participation will contribute to removing the African continent from the cycle of marginalization and exclusion.

In his speech on the G20 report during the second and final day of the work of the Executive Council of the African Union in the Ethiopian capital, Attaf said, “Algeria reaffirms the importance of optimal preparation for the African Union’s participation in this group, because participation is not an end in itself, as much as it is a means that we hope will contribute to removing our continent from the cycle of marginalization and exclusion.”

From this perspective, the minister adds, “My delegation supports the measures that were previously approved to share representation tasks between the Commission and the rotating presidency, and suggests drawing inspiration from the experience of the Oran process to unify the African voice as well within the G20.”

On the occasion, Attaf expressed “appreciation and praise to the sister Republic of South Africa for its distinguished and brilliant presidency of the G20, and I express my sincerest support and solidarity with it in light of the challenges it faces in this context.”
