Atf meets de Mistura and renews the position of Algeria supporting Western Sahara – Algerian dialogue

The Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad and African Affairs, Ahmed Ataf, today in New York, held a bilateral meeting with the personal envoy of the Secretary -General of the United Nations to Western Sahara, Stavan de Mistura.

According to a statement by the Ministry, this meeting comes as a continuation of the talks that they gathered in Algeria on September 16th, where it was devoted to discussing the developments of the Western Sahara issue, in the context of preparing for the Security Council meeting scheduled for next October on this file.

In this context, Ataf renewed the fixed position of Algeria in supporting the international efforts to reach a fair, permanent and final settlement that guarantees the Sahrawi people to exercise their inactive right to self -determination, according to the relevant United Nations resolutions.

This meeting was held on the sidelines of the Minister’s participation in the high -level part of the works of the United Nations General Assembly.
