The head of the National People’s Assembly, Ibrahim Bougali, praised the decisions of the recent Council of Ministers, considering them an embodiment of the state’s social principles emphasized in the November 1 statement, and reflecting the state’s standing by the working class in the face of living pressures.

During a meeting of the Council’s office on Tuesday, Bougali expressed the representatives’ pride in the outcomes of the Council of Ministers meeting held last Sunday, stressing that the decisions taken reflect a clear vision for promoting social justice and improving the standard of living on the one hand, and protecting strategic capabilities and stabilizing Algeria in its position as a significant country on the continent, on the other hand.

The President of the Council stressed that the decision to raise the guaranteed national minimum wage is a decisive step because of its direct impact on the purchasing power of workers, considering that this measure embodies the state’s social principles emphasized in the November 1 statement, and reflects the state’s standing by the working class in the face of living pressures. He also noted the increase in the value of the unemployment grant, considering it a step that confirms the state’s interest in groups seeking work and its keenness to provide temporary support that helps them integrate into the labor market, which highlights the state’s commitment to protecting vulnerable groups and not abandoning them no matter what. In the same context, the President of the Council welcomed the study of the issue of improving pensions and retirement grants, stressing that this group that contributed to building the nation deserves all care and appreciation. Boghali paused when Algeria entered the phase of exporting refined gasoline for the first time, describing this as an exceptional event that reflects the effectiveness of the economic policies followed and the country’s ability to transform from a consumer to an exporter of one of the most important energy materials.

He also appreciated the directives of the President of the Republic regarding the preparation of a comprehensive plan for the national policy to regulate and control the consumption of petroleum derivatives, in a way that enhances the national strategic reserve of energy materials.

Bougali renewed the National People’s Assembly’s commitment to accompany the state’s efforts by developing the legislative framework and enhancing constructive oversight that serves the nation’s highest interest, stressing that this stage requires greater harmony and effective support for the path of reforms.
