Arkab oversees the signing of a memorandum of understanding between “Sonarram” and the Pakistani “Fatima Fertilizer” company – the Algerian dialogue

The Minister of State, Minister of Energy, Mines and Renewable Energies, Mohamed Aqab, supervised, at the Ministry’s headquarters, the signing ceremony for a memorandum of understanding for cooperation between the mine -industrial complex “Sonarram”, represented by his sub -company “Somivos” and the “Fatima Fertilizer” company, the Pakistani Pakistani complex branch, in a move aimed at enhancing bilateral partnership in the fields of mining industries and fertilizers of all kinds.

It was signed in the presence of the Secretary of State to the Minister of Energy in charge of renewable energies, Noureddine Yassa, the President General Manager of the Sonarram Complex, Mr. Belkacem Sultani, the President General Director of Somivos, Mr. Lakhl Mukhtar, and the Executive Director of Operations at the company “Grand Explography & Mining Company”, Mr. Mukhtar Abbas, affiliated to the Fatima Complex. The signing ceremony was also attended by His Excellency the Ambassador of Pakistan to Algeria, and His Excellency the Ambassador of Algeria to Pakistan, in addition to a number of ministry’s tires and collectors.

The Memorandum of Understanding aims to set a framework for a fruitful cooperation between the two parties in the field of marketing phosphate produced in the Bir Al -Atar mine in its first stage, through contractual arrangements that include enriching this vital material, and converting it locally in the subsequent stages, in a way that contributes to the development of the phosphate and other fertilizer industry, and the enhancement of value chains associated with this activity. The memorandum also seeks to explore the opportunities for partnership and investment through industrial projects directed to the Algerian and Pakistani markets, in addition to other markets, by studying the possibility of completing projects based on the value of mining resources and achieving added value through local manufacturing, in a way that enhances Algeria’s capabilities in this vital field, by exchanging technical and technical expertise between the two companies.

This cooperation falls within the framework of efforts to upgrade investment in the mining sector and enhance qualitative international partnerships, especially with partners from the Asian continent, because of their advanced industrial and technological experiences in converting raw materials and developing manufacturing industries. This cooperation also aims to develop, enrich, and convert phosphate materials extracted from the Bir Al -Atar mine, whose reserves are estimated at more than 850 million tons.

On this occasion, the two parties expressed their desire to develop a strategic partnership based on economic integration and the exploitation of capabilities from mining resources, especially in light of the two countries seeking to enhance food security and develop transformative industries based on natural resources.

For reference, the “Fatima Group” complex is one of the largest Pakistani industrial blocs, which is active in many fields that include fertilizers, chemical industries, energy, fabric, and agriculture, and includes in its wallet the company “Fatima Fertilizer Companed”, a leader in the manufacture of fertilizers in Pakistan, which has expanded towards the mining sector through projects A strategy in the Balochistan region, especially in the areas of exploitation and transformation of phosphates, copper, gold and iron.
