Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi stressed that the situation of the Strait of Hormuz cannot be separated from the overall developments taking place in the region, during his discussions with the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres.

The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated, in a statement, that Araqchi explained to Guterres that any disturbance in shipping traffic within the Strait of Hormuz comes, as he put it, as a result of what he described as the “imposed war” on Iran.

These statements come in light of the escalation of regional tensions, and the resulting repercussions on the security of navigation in one of the most important global sea lanes.
