Arab Cup: Jordan defeats the UAE

The Jordanian national team defeated its Emirati counterpart, two goals to one, in the second match of the third group for the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025.
Al-Nashama defeated their opponent in the eighth match of the first round, which was hosted by Al-Bayt Stadium in the Qatari city of Al-Khor, on Wednesday evening.
Jordan leads its group with three points, ahead of Egypt and Kuwait after their draw, and the UAE, which ranked last.
Jordan benefits from the expulsion of the Emirati player
Jordan’s attack put pressure on its opponent since Omani referee Ahmed Al-Kaf announced the start of the match.
The distinguished duo, Yazan Al-Naimat and Ali Alwan, led most of the Jordanian attacks.
The Emiratis made a mistake early on, as Khaled Al Dhahnani was unable to stop Al Nuaimat inside the penalty area and blocked him in the 18th minute.
The Omani referee did not hesitate to point to the penalty spot, then showed the red card in the face of defender Al Dhanani.
Ali Alwan converted the kick into a goal in the 20th minute, giving his team the advantage.
The Emirati team was confused after this goal, as spaces appeared for the Jordanian players who were looking to double the score.
Koidu Kwame repeated the same mistake that Al-Dahnani made, as he let Al-Naamiyyat escape supervision and go one-on-one with goalkeeper Hamad Al-Muqbali.
The UAE team’s defender found no solution other than obstructing the Jordanian striker, which prompted the referee to announce a second penalty kick after resorting to video technology.
Al-Muqbali atoned for his sin with Alwan taking the kick again, as he jumped from the direction to which he threw the ball in the 39th minute.

The UAE national team benefited from the goalkeeper saving the penalty kick immediately after the half-time break.
Bruno Oliveira equalized in a beautiful way, following a ground pass from his colleague Luan Pereira in the 47th minute.
Oliveira was about to score a double after that, had it not been for Jordanian goalkeeper Yazid Abu Laila’s cleverness to shoot him and deflect it towards the corner.
The missed opportunity alerted the Nashama team, which responded quickly through the brilliant Yazan Al-Naimat.
The Qatari Al-Arabi club striker set off towards the Emirates goal, after a pass from Nizar Al-Rashdan, to snatch the ball from defender Koido and goalkeeper Al-Muqbali.
Al-Naimat did not hesitate to score the second, and wait for the referee’s decision after reviewing the video technology to confirm the offside situation or the hypothesis of touching the ball by hand.
The referee gave CAF the green light to award the goal in the 63rd minute.
The match ended with the Jordanian national team defeating the Emirates national team with a score of 2-1 in the group stage of the Arab Cup
