An Algerian supporter travels from India to Rabat on a bicycle!

An Algerian supporter caught the attention during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, after he traveled thousands of kilometers from India to Morocco, using bicycles and cars, in order to encourage the Algerian national team.
The story narrated by the French website and channel RMC Sport shed light on this unprecedented path and the exceptional human story that combines passion for football, victory for the Algerian flag, and the spirit of adventure.
The chapters of the story go back to a tourist trip taken by Muhammad, a 31-year-old Algerian nurse who lives in the French city of Chambery, with his wife to India. There, he met an Indian tuk-tuk driver, and this simple meeting turned into a crazy idea, which was to go to Morocco at the start of the African Cup to support the “Greens.”
However, political complications prevented the project from being implemented collectively, due to tensions between India and Pakistan, which prompted Muhammad to make a bold decision to embark on the journey alone. On August 22, he set off from New Delhi, setting his sights on arriving in Rabat before December 21, relying mainly on transportation via the “autostop.”
During his journey, Muhammad passed through several countries, including Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Uzbekistan, where the adventure was not without touching humanitarian situations. He volunteered in Afghanistan to help victims of a violent earthquake, and moved to disaster areas on board an army helicopter. However, he was unable to obtain an entry visa to Iran, forcing him to change his route, so he traveled by air to Kuwait, before continuing his way through Iraq and Syria to reach Turkey.
In this context, he faced real difficulties in Europe, especially in Türkiye and Greece, where finding cars to transport him became complicated. Then, he resorted to the “Plan B” by purchasing a bicycle upon his arrival in France, in order to continue the remainder of the journey on two wheels.
Although he had no previous experience in long-distance cycling, Muhammad covered between 150 and 200 kilometers daily, using sports radio programmes, most notably the “After Foot” podcast on RMC. Thanks to the support of friends, free accommodation, and a budget of just 10 euros a day, he arrived in Rabat on December 20, the eve of the tournament.
The adventure culminated in Mohamed attending the three group stage matches of the Algerian national team, in an atmosphere he described as “fiery and wonderful,” especially with the “Greens” achieving three victories. After the end of this exceptional journey, Muhammad hints at a new adventure that may lead him to the next World Cup.
