The head of the State People’s Assembly of the State of Algiers, Habib Ben Boulaid, confirmed that the State of Algiers, as the capital of the country, is called upon to continue performing its pioneering role in advancing development, promoting investment, improving the urban environment, and enhancing the dynamism of the local economy in line with the strategic position that the state occupies at the national and institutional levels.
In this context, Habib Ben Boulaid stated that the responsibility placed on the Council imposes on it the improvement of public performance and the highest levels of commitment and discipline, and this is given that the state of Algiers has the particularity of being considered the capital of the country and has historical symbolism, political weight and economic institutions, which reflects the image and prestige of the state, and makes the state a role model for management, development and quality of public services, and this was during his speech that he delivered on the occasion of the regular session of the state People’s Assembly.
The President of the State People’s Assembly renewed their firm commitment to accompanying national efforts and enhancing participatory work with various actors and institutions and serving the citizen as a focus of public policies in line with his legitimate aspirations, consecrating the principles of good governance and sustainable development and contributing to upgrading the status of the capital as a cultural interface that reflects the ambitions of the modern Algerian state.
The spokesman also praised the efforts of the state of Algiers, in coordination with the state People’s Assembly, to confront the recent weather fluctuations, as rapid field recruitment took place, a proactive approach was adopted, and various capabilities were harnessed to ensure the safety of citizens, maintain the normal functioning of public facilities, and limit the effects of these exceptional circumstances, which reflects the readiness of state institutions and the effectiveness of coordination between the various stakeholders.
Ben Boulaid stressed that the State Popular Council, through its regular and extraordinary sessions, its members and its oversight mechanisms, is keen to study files with a social and economic dimension, propose practical solutions, defend the rights of citizens, ensure the improvement of livelihood discourse, upgrade public services, and achieve balanced local development across the various municipalities of the state.
In this regard, Ben Boulaid appreciated the efforts of the Minister and Governor of the State of Algiers, Mohamed Abdel Nour Rabhi, in exchange for his keenness on continuous coordination with the State People’s Assembly and devoting the principle of consultation and integration with various bodies in a way that serves the public interest and enhances the effectiveness of public work at the state level.
The President of the Council also stressed that the initial budget of the state of Algiers for the year 2026 is of great importance in the process of local public management, as it is considered a strategic tool for embodying development programs and translating the general directions of the state into concrete projects that affect the daily life of the citizen and determining practical paths to direct resources towards supporting local development, enhancing public investment, improving the quality of services, and upgrading the living framework across the various municipalities and regions of the state of Algiers.
