Algerian badminton shines in the African Championship

The Algerian national badminton team shined during its participation in the African Championship hosted by the Botswana capital, Gaborone.
The national elements excelled in the team and doubles competitions, where they won three gold medals and one bronze, in addition to another bronze in the individual competitions.
Kasila Mammari is the common denominator
Player Kassila Mammeri proved his mettle in the continental competition, as he contributed greatly to giving Algeria two gold medals.
Kasila, along with his colleague Youssef Sabri Madal, dominated the men’s doubles competitions.
The duo did not leave any gap to the competitors, as they passed one round after another and defeated strong teams in the form of the Mauritian national team in the semi-finals and then the Zambian national team in the final match.
Kasila Maamri and Youssef Sabri Madal wrote their names in golden letters in the African badminton registry, adding the eighth title in their history after the years 2017, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2024 and 2025.
The Algerian duo is considered the most successful in the history of the African Championship doubles competition since its launch in 1984.
It should be noted that the players took the badminton stage at the Mediterranean Games in Oran four years ago, after defeating the Spaniards Pablo Abian and Luis Enrique Viñalber in the final match, two games to one.
Kasila was not satisfied with this title, winning another gold medal, the sixth in a row, in the mixed doubles competition, after he and his sister Thanaina defeated the South African pair of Kaden Kakura and Amy Ackerman in the final match by two games to zero (21-12) (21-9).
Similar to the male doubles competition, Kasila Maamari achieved his eighth title in the mixed doubles competition, as he had previously won two consecutive titles with the player Linda Mazri in the 2018 and 2019 tournaments.
In other results, Yasmine Shibah won the bronze medal in the female singles competition.
The same player, along with her colleague Linda Mazri, won the female doubles bronze medal.
