The Minister of Pharmaceutical Industry, Wassim Qouidari, stressed the necessity of building an integrated national system for pharmaceutical innovation, through integration between ministerial sectors and economic institutions, to establish pharmaceutical sovereignty and increase the rate of local integration.
The Minister of Pharmaceutical Industry, Dr. Wassim Koueidari, participated, accompanied by the Minister of Knowledge Economy, Emerging Enterprises and Micro-enterprises, Noureddine Wadh, in the opening ceremony of the first edition of the National Research Products Exhibition, hosted by the scientific and technological magnate, Martyr Abdelhafiz Ahdadden Sidi Abdallah.
The Minister highlighted that innovative research programs and products today constitute the real engine for moving from the stage of quantitative sufficiency to the stage of qualitative innovation, and from mere manufacturing to development, especially in the pharmaceutical field, pointing to the pivotal role played by the Algerian University, research laboratories, and development centers, as the natural incubator for innovative ideas and projects that can be converted into industrial products with economic and health feasibility.
The same speaker stressed the need to encourage scientific research in the field of pharmaceutical materials with high added value, such as biotechnological drugs directed at cancer and rare and incurable diseases, along with developing technologies in the field of manufacturing medical supplies, whose effective role is increasing day after day, in addition to directing scientific research towards modernizing techniques for manufacturing pharmaceutical raw materials and producing vital components and various pharmaceutical production inputs, while stimulating the partnership between pharmaceutical dealers, research laboratories and universities, with the aim of consecrating pharmaceutical sovereignty and raising the rate of Local integration.
The Minister also indicated that the Ministry of Pharmaceutical Industry firmly believes that integration between ministerial sectors and economic institutions is the only way to achieve the established goals, and therefore cooperation constitutes the cornerstone of building an integrated national system for pharmaceutical innovation, stressing the Ministry’s readiness to support research projects that can be industrially embodied.
