He studied at the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Algeria and then at the University of Paris in France.
A seasoned thinker, writer, and politician who held several positions from Minister of Education, Minister of Culture and Information, to Minister of Foreign Affairs, he was one of the most prominent fighters in the ranks of the national movement against French colonialism. He died on October 5, 2025, at the age of 93.
