Algeria launches new measures to enhance cybersecurity

Algeria is working to strengthen cybersecurity as an essential component of national and economic security. In this regard, national competencies will be developed by launching qualification courses in the vocational training sector, to confront increasing digital threats.
The Minister of Vocational Training and Education, Nassima Arhab, participated in the work of the National Forum to Strengthen Capabilities in the Field of Cybersecurity, organized by the Ministry of Vocational Training and Education in coordination with the Information Systems Security Agency, within the framework of implementing the National Strategy for Information Systems Security.
The Minister highlighted that organizing this meeting falls within the framework of implementing the directives of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, aimed at strengthening cybersecurity as an essential component of national and economic security, stressing that developing national competencies constitutes a pivotal pillar for confronting increasing digital threats.
The same spokeswoman also explained that the vocational training and education sector is working to align training programs with the requirements of digital transformation, by modernizing specializations and enhancing the applied aspect, allowing for the formation of executive technical competencies capable of rapid integration into the labor market, especially in professions related to monitoring and protecting information systems.
The Minister announced the launch of new qualification trainings crowned with certificates, according to the competency approach, starting from the current training entry, directed to meet the growing demand for cybersecurity professions, which are among the most in-demand and growing professions, with the inclusion of modern pedagogical methods, including smart sections and distance training, with the aim of expanding opportunities for benefit and improving the quality of training.
For his part, the Director General of the Information Systems Security Agency, Brigadier General Abdel Salam Belghoul, stressed that cybersecurity has become an urgent necessity to protect the national digital system, praising the initiative of the Ministry of Vocational Training and Education in organizing this forum, which falls within the framework of supporting the axes of the national strategy for information systems security, especially in the field of training and awareness.
The forum’s program includes three main workshops centered around identifying the needs of the national market for cybersecurity competencies, updating training programs, enhancing the capabilities of the components, and supporting the applied aspect through partnerships and the use of modern technological means.
This forum aims to come up with practical recommendations that will contribute to enhancing digital sovereignty and building a safe and sustainable national system in the field of cybersecurity.
