Algeria Judicial Council.. Upholding verdicts against Said Bouteflika, Ali Haddad and the Kouninef brothers in corruption cases – Al-Hiwar Al-Jazaeryia

Today, Tuesday, the Public Prosecutor at the Tenth Criminal Chamber of the Algiers Judicial Council requested support for the appealed verdict against the defendants under investigation who were convicted of imprisonment. And “Mohyiddin Tahkout”, “Mazouz Ahmed” “Mohamed Bayri” and the Kouninef brothers, “Reza, Abdelkader Karim and Nawa Tariq”, in addition to the former parliamentarian, “Maysoum Taher”.
The prosecution’s petitions also included the brothers of Muhyiddin Tahkout, “Tahkout Ibrahim,” “Hamid,” “Rashid,” and “the accused, Khelifaoui Ali, the former director of public works, the former general manager of the National Bank of Algeria, “Aboud Ashour,” and the rest of the defendants, including
Staff and tires of the National Highway Agency.
The same judicial body also requested the support of the requests of the public prosecutor at the Sidi M’hamed court regarding the defendants who benefited from the acquittal of the case file.
With the support of the petitions related to the confiscation of the property of the accused, subject of conviction, including real and movable properties, balances and bank accounts.

These petitions came after charges were filed against them included in the Anti-Corruption and Prevention Law, including concealment of criminal proceeds resulting from corruption crimes, concealment of criminal proceeds by concealing their criminal source, money laundering, and exchange violations. As a reminder, the defendants had previously been convicted of custodial sentences in Many corruption cases.
It is worth noting that the criminal pole specializing in economic and financial cases in the Sidi M’hamed court had previously imposed varying penalties, ranging from 15 years in prison to acquittal, against all the accused.

The representative of the public treasury, established as a civil party in the case, sought compensation of 500 billion dinars. The accused, subject of prosecution, shall pay it jointly to the public treasury, compulsorily, with subsequent damages.

Said Bouteflika and the Kouninef brothers, businessmen and former parliamentarians, were charged with charges included in the Anti-Corruption and Prevention Law.
