
The Minister of Labour, Employment and Social Security, Abdelhak Saihi, praised the reforms initiated by Algeria in recent years, whether in the field of modernizing social protection systems, supporting entrepreneurship within the framework of social justice and equal opportunities, investing in human capital, and motivating young people to enter the labor market, through various support mechanisms and devices, in a way that contributes to achieving sustainable development.
This came during his meeting with Salima Ishaq Mohammed Al-Khalifa, Minister of State for Human Resources and Social Welfare of the Republic of Sudan. The meeting was attended by the Ambassador of the Republic of Sudan and representatives of both sides, where emphasis was placed on strengthening bilateral cooperation in the fields of work and social protection. At the beginning of the talks, the Minister touched on the strong historical relations between Algeria and Sudan, stressing the importance of raising bilateral cooperation to the level of a practical and effective partnership that benefits both countries. The Minister also reviewed the most prominent efforts made by Algeria in the field of expanding the comprehensiveness of the social security system, consolidating the principles of social dialogue as a strategic option, and implementing a comprehensive approach aimed at strengthening the economic and social rights of workers, in addition to promoting decent work. In accordance with international standards approved by the International Labor Organization.

For her part, the Sudanese Minister praised the pioneering Algerian experience in the fields of social protection and work, expressing her country’s interest in benefiting from the Algerian experience in these two vital fields, especially in the formation of Sudanese human resources in the fields of labor culture and occupational safety, reviewing in turn the measures adopted by Sudan in order to maintain the sustainability of the national social security system.
The meeting represented an opportunity to exchange views on ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the fields of labor and social security, in a way that serves the interests of the two brotherly peoples and strengthens the long-standing historical ties between Algeria and Sudan.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the two ministers expressed their common will to intensify the pace of cooperation, by activating technical coordination mechanisms and exchanging expertise and successful experiences, especially in the areas of social security and promoting social dialogue, in a way that enhances the opportunities for social and economic development in the two brotherly countries.
