
Algeria affirmed its commitment to promoting and developing the peaceful use of nuclear energy in the vital health sector, as it seeks to consolidate its position as a regional leader in this field with the strategic goal of improving the management of serious diseases and modernizing the public health system.
The National Agency for Health Security, represented by its president, Professor Kamal Senhaji, participated, according to a statement on Sunday, in the activities of the International Conference on Nuclear Medicine in Algeria (AICONM25). This scientific forum was organized by the Algerian Association of Nuclear Medicine (AANM), in cooperation with the Atomic Energy Prefecture (COMENA) and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), and brought together an elite group of experts, doctors, researchers and physicists from Algeria and a number of partner countries, in a meeting It was dedicated to reviewing the latest developments and innovations in the field of nuclear medicine diagnosis and treatment.
Professor Kamal Senhaji stressed that Algeria’s hosting of this international event represents a strong indication of the country’s commitment to promoting and developing the peaceful use of nuclear energy in the vital health sector, highlighting Algeria’s endeavor, under the leadership of the President of the Republic, to consolidate its position as a regional leader in this field with the strategic goal of improving the management of serious diseases and modernizing the public health system.
During this conference, applied and practical workshops were presented in the field of continuing education on cardiovascular diseases in nuclear medicine and a specialized training course.
On the other hand, the Minister of Health, Mohamed Siddiq Ait Messaoudane, explained that Algeria has attached utmost importance to developing the health system and enhancing comprehensive health coverage through improving training, adding that in this context, nuclear medicine has enjoyed a pivotal place within the health sector reform plans because of the added value it provides in diagnosis and treatment, especially for the benefit of patients with cancer and chronic and complex diseases.
