Algeria and Indonesia enhance cooperation in phosphate – Algerian Al-Hiwar newspaper

The memorandum was signed by the President and Director General of Somiphos on the Algerian side Mukhtar LakhalOn the Indonesian side, the President and General Manager of BOBOK Indonesia Rahmad Pribadi.
The agreement aims to establish a cooperation framework to study and develop partnership opportunities in the field of phosphate, including evaluating the possibility of supplying Indonesia’s phosphate with Algerian phosphate, exploring joint investment opportunities in exploiting and transforming it locally, in addition to developing projects related to products derived from it.
The memorandum also stipulates the completion of joint preliminary studies to evaluate the technical and economic feasibility, exchange data, and discuss prospects for cooperation in the early stages of the phosphate manufacturing industries in a way that enhances added value and industrial integration. Its validity period extends for 18 months, subject to renewal, with the organization of periodic meetings, and the possibility of concluding subsequent executive agreements in accordance with the legislation in force in the two countries.
Minister Arkab stressed that this step falls within the directives of the President of the Republic to strengthen economic partnerships in strategic mining sectors, most notably phosphate, in a way that supports diversification of the economy, development of manufacturing industries, and creation of added value. He also highlighted its importance in supporting Algerian-Indonesian cooperation and transferring expertise and technology, in a way that serves common interests and enhances food and industrial security.
For their part, Bubok Indonesia officials expressed their interest in Algerian mining potential, and their readiness to move forward in developing practical and sustainable partnerships in the field of phosphate and fertilizer industry.
