The Grand Imam said that Al -Azhar cherishes its historical relations with Algeria, which the students and the Azhar envoys were an important factor in strengthening them, noting that Al -Azhar embraces 147 Algerian students, including 26 students to grant Azhar, and annually allocates 10 grants to the people of Algeria.
He also confirmed willingness Al -Azhar To visit the scholarships allocated to the people of Algeria, and allocate part of it to study applied sciences such as medicine and pharmacy along with the legal and Arab sciences, and to meet the needs of Algerian society.
He stressed the readiness of Al -Azhar to host the Algerian imams and train them in the Al -Azhar International Academy for Training the Imams and Protecting, and refine their skills in refuting extremist ideas and dealing with contemporary issues, especially with regard to the status of women in Islam and issues of positive coexistence; Emphasizing Al -Azhar’s readiness to send the Al -Azhar scholars to teach in Algerian schools; As was previously in place, Imam Al -Ghazali and Sheikh Al -Shaarawi – may God have mercy on them – was one of the most prominent Al -Azhar delegates in Algeria.
For his part, the Algerian ambassador expressed his happiness at meeting the Sheikh of Al -Azhar, and his country’s appreciation for the positions of Al -Azhar, stating: “We appreciate the role of your pivotal virtue in supporting the issues of the Arab and Islamic world, and your courageous stances towards the Palestinian issue and aggression on Gaza, and addressing the speech of hatred and the growing phenomenon of Islamophobia, that your statements and stances represent all the components of the Islamic world We stand behind you and seek at your hands, so the voice of Al -Azhar is a strong voice that is valid with the truth, which is our primary reference in religious issues.
The ambassador also expressed his appreciation for the care that Al -Azhar pays to the Algerian students studying it, confirming his country’s endeavor to raise the levels of cooperation with the Al -Azhar Foundation in terms of increasing the number of Algerian students in Al -Azhar, intensifying the training courses of imams, and exchanging the publications issued by Al -Azhar and sharing them with Algerian universities, which was welcomed by the Sheikh of Al -Azhar and directed to study it in the fastest possible time.
