Agenda for the second day of the African Union Summit – New Algeria

During the second and final day of the summit, held under the slogan “Ensuring the availability of water and safe sanitation systems to achieve the goals of Agenda 2063,” a set of reports will be presented, including the annual report of the President of the African Commission, Mahmoud Ali Youssef, and those related to Agenda 2063, the Comprehensive African Program for Agricultural Development, the theme of the African Union for the year 2025, in addition to the main continental initiatives led by the African Bank.

A report is being considered on the implications of describing colonialism as a crime against humanity, as well as describing some acts committed during the era of slavery, deportation and colonialism as acts of genocide against the peoples of Africa.

The African Commission also submits its report on the situation in occupied Palestine, in addition to adopting summit decisions. Finally, the final statement was read by the new Chairman of the African Union, President of Burundi, Evariste Ndayishimiye.

During this summit, which took place at a pivotal stage in the continent’s history, Algeria reaffirmed its commitment to peaceful solutions to conflicts, its support for African approaches to African problems, and its continued contribution effectively to efforts to promote peace and stability and strengthen conflict prevention and settlement mechanisms.

Algeria’s participation falls within the framework of its commitment, under the leadership of the President of the Republic, to support joint African action and to promote paths of integration and solidarity among the countries of the continent, in a way that serves the aspirations of its peoples towards sustainable development, security and stability.
