Algeria ended the first edition of the African School Games, which was hosted between 26 July and 5 August, at the top of the medals’s overall ranking.
The Algerian athletes won 245 medals, including 103 gold, 80 silver and 61 bronze.
The states of Constantine, Annaba, Sterif and Skikda, the African School Games, hosted the participation of 1700 athletes, representing 50 African Olympic committees and competed in 21 specialties.

The medals achieved by the national teams representing various sports confirmed the great work done at the basic level in some of them at the expense of others.
Algeria’s control of some combat sports came to repeat the achievements recorded in the categories of the Akbar, as it strengthened specializations such as wrestling, judo, boxing and athletics, the proceeds of the medals.
The wrestling topped the medals table with a total of 29 medals, including 17 golds, 10 silver and two bronzes.
The judo added 29 medals for the national elite balance, 14 of which are gold, and boxing was followed by 14 medals, including 13 gold and silver, while athletics won 36 medals, including 12 gold.
