National elite athletes continue to win medals at the African Games held in the Ghanaian capital, Accra, from the 4th to the 23rd of this March.

Algeria is participating with 145 athletes, including 58 female athletes in 11 different disciplines in this event.

Algeria’s share of medals rose hours before the end of the seventh day of competition, to exceed 35 medals in total, including seven golds.

Doubles competitions are the strength of the national teams

The Badminton National Badminton Team won three medals in the doubles category on the occasion of the competition finals being held on Sunday.

The two brothers, Kasila Maamari and Tanina Maamari, confirmed their dominance in the mixed doubles competition after achieving their second continental title this year, as they previously won the African Championship recently in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, against the same competitor.

The Algerian duo defeated their Egyptian counterparts, Adham El Gamal and Dhaha Hadi, in two sets to no avail.

Kassila returned to appear in another final after his first coronation, but this time in the male doubles category, where he faced Zamil Sabri Madal in the final match that brought them together with Nigerians Godwin Olufua and Gwen Abiore.

The two Algerians did not leave the competitor any opportunity to avenge the loss of the African crown last February in Cairo, and again deprived them of the African Championship, where they won 2-0.

For his part, the women’s doubles pair, Tanina Maamri and Hala Boksani, settled for the silver medal, after losing in the final against his Ugandan counterpart in two sets to none.

The duo of the national table tennis team, consisting of Mehdi Boulousa and Stephane Ouaiche, followed the same approach as their badminton predecessors, giving Algeria its seventh medal from the precious metal.

Boulousa and Aouaish defeated his competitors from Egypt, Mohamed Shoman and Khaled Asr, in three sets of two.

Gold was absent from the podiums for the Algerian swimmers during this day, after Jawad Seyoud settled for silver in the 100-meter breaststroke, and the same went for Abdullah Arjoun in the 200-meter backstroke.

Rania won a bronze medal in the 100-meter breaststroke, and the same result for the national quartet in the 100*4 mixed medley.

Weightlifter Nada Kutbi presented the national weightlifting team with three silver medals in the snatch and clean and jerk competitions, then the total for the 45 kg weightlifting competition.
