African Energy Commission: Algeria is qualified to enhance African energy security – Algerian Al-Hiwar newspaper

The Executive Director of the African Energy Commission (AFRAK), Rachid Ali Abdallah, confirmed that Algeria possesses strong capabilities that qualify it to contribute to enhancing energy security on the African continent, thanks to its long experience in the field of hydrocarbons, and its ambitious programs in renewable energies, in addition to its strategic geographical location.

This came in a speech delivered on his behalf by the head of the committee’s energy information systems and statistics department, Samson Nogbudhoy, during an iftar banquet organized by the Arab-African Center for Investment and Development in Algiers, under the slogan “Energy and Water for Building Development.”

The spokesman pointed out that Algeria occupies a pivotal position in African energy architecture, as a link between Africa, Europe and the Mediterranean, which enhances its ability to support regional energy integration.

He also highlighted Algeria’s experience in the energy sector, especially in the field of electricity, considering that strategic vision and political courage were key factors in achieving significant coverage rates and enhancing the path of economic independence.

In a related context, he stressed that the global energy scene is witnessing rapid transformations due to geopolitical tensions, the acceleration of the energy transition, and climate requirements, which makes the issue of energy sovereignty a priority for African countries.

He called for rational and effective exploitation of the continent’s resources, including oil, gas and renewable energies, to achieve appropriate coverage of people’s needs, with the need to coordinate efforts and benefit from the experiences of countries that have achieved tangible progress in this field, such as Algeria.
