Adopting four formulas to evaluate the achievements of fifth-grade primary school students

The Ministry of National Education has set the date for conducting the examination to evaluate the achievements of the primary education stage for the academic year 2025-2026, with the adoption of four evaluation formats. The written tests will begin next Tuesday, May 5, and extend over three consecutive days until Thursday, May 7, during the usual school time.

The Ministry indicates that conducting these tests will not affect the normal functioning of educational institutions, as the rest of the academic levels will continue their studies normally throughout the exam period.

This exam falls within the framework of the Ministry’s efforts to monitor the level of academic achievement among fifth-year primary school students, and monitor the extent to which they master the basic competencies they have acquired over the years of primary education, with the aim of improving the quality of learning and developing the educational system.

The tests will be conducted within the same educational institutions to which the students belong, under the supervision of the educational staff, in appropriate organizational and pedagogical conditions that ensure that the students perform their exams in the best possible way.

Four integrated formulas were also adopted to evaluate students’ achievements, combining written, oral, and performance tests, in a comprehensive approach that aims to measure various aspects of learning, not just theoretical knowledge. The written tests include seven basic subjects: Arabic language, Islamic education, mathematics, history, and the Amazigh, English, and French languages, in addition to assessments in the subjects of scientific and technological education, geography, and civic education.
Oral assessments are concerned with measuring comprehension and linguistic communication skills, while performance assessments focus on reading performance, good recitation and memorization, in addition to educational behaviors and motor skills in physical education and sports. These formulas fall within a modern educational vision that places the student’s applied competence at the heart of the assessment process.
