A tribute to the current Algerian experience in the field of youth empowerment

Within the framework of the activities of the second session of the International Youth Forum for Peace, which is being held in the Italian city of Como, the Vice President of the Council, Mohamed Anouar Bouchouit, praised the current Algerian experience in the field of youth empowerment, noting that it is an experience that can be benefited from at the Mediterranean and African levels.

This came in his intervention, which he delivered, on Tuesday, during the high-level opening session, where Bouchouit presented the most prominent aspects of the Algerian strategy for youth empowerment, especially with regard to promoting political and economic empowerment, explaining that the current approach enabled youth to obtain 34% of the composition of the National People’s Assembly in its current term, not to mention the establishment of the Supreme Youth Council, which is truly considered a true incubator for Algerian youth.

The spokesman pointed out that the Algerian approach is based primarily on the roles played by Algerian youth during the war of liberation, as the Group of 22 represented a youth role model in the field of youth resistance to one of the strongest forms of colonial occupation in their time, in order to restore the freedom and dignity of their people. The Vice President of the Council added that these youth carried, with awareness and sacrifice, a liberation project based on justice and the right of peoples to self-determination.

Bushwit concluded his intervention by pointing out what young people in Gaza are suffering as a result of the siege and social, economic and psychological destruction, stressing that it limits their roles in the peacebuilding process, indicating that security and stability in the region are linked to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Holy Jerusalem as its capital.

In this context, he concluded his intervention by calling on participants to ask whether it is possible to accept an international system in which the law of the strongest continues to impose itself on the weakest, and can younger generations develop their talents and abilities in a context characterized by deep and persistent inequality at the global level?
