The Ministry of National Defense announced today, Wednesday, the results of units and detachments of People’s National Army, during the period from 03 to 09 May 2023, which yielded qualitative results in the fight against terrorism and organized crime in all its forms.
A statement by the Ministry of National Defense stated that detachments of the People’s National Army arrested 5 elements supporting terrorist groups during separate operations. As part of the fight against organized crime and in continuation of the relentless efforts aimed at confronting the scourge of drug trafficking in our country, joint detachments of People’s National Army, in coordination with the various security services, stopped during operations across the military regions, 41 drug dealers and thwarted attempts to bring in 5 quintals and 40 kilograms of treated kif across the border. With Morocco, while (295,666) hallucinogenic tablets were seized.
The units of the army detachments in Tamanrasset, Bordj Badji Mokhtar, In Guezzam and Djanet also arrested 412 people and seized metal detectors and illegal gold prospecting, in addition to quantities of explosives and detonation equipment.
In addition, 25 other people were arrested, 15 hunting rifles were seized, and huge quantities of foodstuffs destined for smuggling and speculation amounted to 54.2 tons, as well as 15.9 quintals of tobacco, during separate operations across the national territory. Border guards, in coordination with the National Gendarmerie and Customs, thwarted attempts to smuggle quantities of fuel estimated at (35,386) liters in Bordj Badji Mokhtar, Tebessa, and Souk Ahras.
On the other hand, with regard to the fight against illegal immigration, 121 illegal immigrants of different nationalities across the national territory were arrested.
