A new step in Algeria to enhance care for people with autism spectrum disorder

The Ministry of National Solidarity, Family and Women’s Issues announced the establishment of the National Center for Autism in Algeria, which will undertake the preparation of programs and curricula related to people with autism spectrum disorders at the national level, especially in the field of diagnosis, early detection, rehabilitation and treatment.

The Ministry of National Solidarity, Family and Women’s Issues explained in a statement that the presidential decree containing the establishment of the National Center for Autism, its tasks, organization and operation had been issued with the high care of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, who had given his instructions regarding strengthening the care and care of people with autism spectrum disorder.

The same interests added that one of the tasks assigned to this center, which will be under the supervision of the Ministry of National Solidarity, Family and Women’s Issues, is to prepare programs and curricula related to people with autism spectrum disorders at the national level, especially in the field of diagnosis, early detection, rehabilitation and treatment, in addition to designing and implementing the national training plan for the benefit of professionals in the field of autism and parents of people with autism, as well as implementing, following up and evaluating the completion of the national plan for autism approved by the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, on June 1, 2025.

This center, which will be based in the city of Algiers, according to the Ministry of National Solidarity, and which will provide a qualitative addition in enhancing the care of people with autism spectrum disorder, especially in the field of detection and treatment, will be followed by the establishment of specialized centers at the local level, starting with four specialized regional centers that will also be responsible for providing and caring for people with autism spectrum disorders across the country.
