A meeting to evaluate the market’s supply of medicines in anticipation of the month of Ramadan

On Monday, a meeting was held for members of the Monitoring and Vigilance Service for the Provision of Pharmaceutical Materials, devoted to assessing the level of national supplies and the extent of continuity of availability of essential medicines in anticipation of the upcoming month of Ramadan, according to a statement by the Ministry of Pharmaceutical Industry.

The same statement explained that this meeting, which took place at the Ministry’s headquarters, falls within the framework of proactive monitoring of the availability of medicines and pharmaceutical materials and the Ministry’s keenness to guarantee the citizen’s right to treatment and the provision of medicines on a regular basis, especially during the month of Ramadan.

The meeting allowed for a review of the current situation in the availability of medicines and pharmaceutical materials, and an analysis of indicators related to consumption during the month of Ramadan, which usually witnesses an increase in demand for some items.

During the meeting, the importance of continuous coordination between various actors in the field of the pharmaceutical industry, including producers, importers, distributors and health institutions, as well as administrative bodies related to the sector, was also stressed, in order to ensure regular and stable supply to the national market and rapid intervention to address any potential imbalances, according to the statement.

On the other hand, the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, had previously confirmed that Algeria had achieved a qualitative leap in the pharmaceutical industry sector at the level of the African continent, and this is what made it host the African Ministerial Conference for the local production of medicines based on its selection by the World Health Organization.

The President of the Republic explained that Algeria owns more than a third of the pharmaceutical institutions on the African continent, as out of 649 factories on the African continent, there are about 230 factories in Algeria, in addition to more than 100 new projects under implementation.
