Madjid Bougherra, coach of the Algerian national football team, downplayed the impact of the defeat that his team suffered, against the Palestinian national team, in the friendly match that took place yesterday evening, Monday, at the “May 19, 1956” stadium in the city of Annaba.
The Algerian national football team was defeated by the Palestine national team, 1-0, yesterday evening, Monday, as part of the two teams’ preparations to participate in the 2025 FIFA Arab Cup tournament, scheduled in the State of Qatar, next December.
The only goal in the match was scored by player Zaid Qanbar in the 38th minute, after a defensive lapse inside the operations area that allowed him to seize the opportunity and let goalkeeper Yesly Rayyan Yoba go out, shooting the ball with a precise header towards the empty goal after a cross from the left side.
After this goal, the “Greens” tried to return to the result through organized attacks that relied on playing across the sides, but the effectiveness was absent in the final touch in front of the goal.
The match began with a balanced rhythm between the two teams, with no serious chances until the 20th minute, when Algerian striker Rayan Jawad Koli made a dangerous attempt after penetrating into the opposing team’s area of operations, directing a powerful shot that was brilliantly blocked by goalkeeper Abdel Hadi Yacine.
In the second half, coach Majeed Bougherra made several changes to the national squad, the most prominent of which was the entry of player Amir Saioud, who gave an additional dose of vitality to the Algerian attack, as he was distinguished by his dribbles and precise passes that confounded the Palestinian defense and created many good opportunities, most notably in the 62nd and 65th minutes, but the powerful shot of “The Greens” player Rayan Jawad Kohli hit the horizontal crossbar.

In the 82nd minute, the Palestinian team almost doubled the score after a powerful shot from player Hamdan Hamed hit the right post of the Algerian team’s goalkeeper, Wesley Rayan Youba, amid confusion in the Algerian defense, which succeeded in keeping the danger away with difficulty.
Despite the pressure exerted by the Algerian team in the last minutes, the Palestinian defense remained cohesive and maintained its lead until the final whistle.
