Last night, Sunday, joint detachments of the People’s National Army were able, following an ambush in the Arak region of Tamanghast State, to eliminate four armed smugglers and recover a Kalashnikov.
A statement by the Ministry of National Defense stated that, within the framework of the war waged by the People’s National Army against smuggling barons and drug traffickers, and in the context of continuing efforts to secure the borders and combat smuggling and organized crime of all kinds, (05) ammunition stores were recovered, along with the seizure of two (02) four-wheel-drive vehicles loaded with a large quantity of psychotropic substances, estimated at one million six hundred thousand (1,600,000) hallucinogenic tablets, in addition to two (02) communication devices of the type Soraya, and (04) mobile phones.
The statement added that the outcome of this operation is added to the many specific operations undertaken daily by detachments of the People’s National Army and various security services across various parts of our country against these criminals in order to secure our border strip and thwart all attempts aimed at compromising the security and safety of our youth.
