The digitization file is an essential pillar for modernizing parliamentary work

On Sunday, the President of the National People’s Assembly, Ibrahim Bougali, supervised a meeting devoted to presenting a technical presentation on an application based on artificial intelligence techniques, developed by the Center for Research in Scientific and Technical Media (CERIST), and which aims to convert audiovisual content into written text, as he stressed that the digitization file is a basic pillar of parliamentary work.

According to a statement by the Council, this project comes within the framework of the Council’s efforts to keep pace with digital transformations and enhance the use of modern technologies in parliamentary work, which falls within the trend towards establishing a digital and smart parliament that relies on advanced technological tools that contribute to improving institutional performance and developing parliamentary work mechanisms.

During this presentation, the technical characteristics of the application were reviewed, which allows the conversion of video and audio recordings, especially those related to public sessions and committee work, into written texts accurately and in a short time, which would facilitate the process of preparing session minutes and documenting and archiving parliamentary interventions, as well as supporting modernization efforts within the Council’s structures.

It was also recalled that the Council had launched 45 digital applications as part of the process of modernizing the parliamentary administration, which reflects the Council’s firm will to adopt advanced technological solutions and consolidate a culture of innovation within the legislative institution.

On this occasion, Boughali stressed the great importance that the Council attaches to the digitization file, as it is a fundamental pillar for modernizing parliamentary work, enhancing transparency, and improving the efficiency of administrative and legislative performance, in addition to being a strategic option that falls within the framework of strengthening national digital sovereignty by relying on Algerian technological competencies and solutions.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the President of the Council gave strict instructions on the necessity of continuing efforts and accelerating the pace of completing the digitization process within the National People’s Assembly, allowing for improving the performance of the legislative institution and keeping pace with the technological transformations witnessed by state institutions.
