The mixture of Algeria’s deserts…the most expensive Arab oil crudes – New Algeria

Kuwaiti export crude topped the pace of Arab oil rises last month, while Algerian crude topped the list of the most expensive Arab oil crude prices in the same month, according to a recent report issued by the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC).
Prices of Arab oil crudes rose collectively during February 2026, amid escalating geopolitical tensions before the outbreak of the US-Israeli war on Iran at the end of the same month.
Algerian crude topped the list of the most expensive prices for Arab oil crudes last February, while Kuwaiti crude came at the bottom of the list despite topping the list of highest increases on a monthly basis until February 2026.
On this basis, the average price of Algerian Sahara Blend, which is the name given to Algerian crude oil, reached $73.59 per barrel during last February, followed by Libyan Sidr crude, whose average price during the same month reached $71.14 per barrel.
The UAE’s Meriban crude came in third place in this regard, as its average monthly price last February reached $69.45 per barrel, before Saudi Arabian Light crude, whose average price last February reached $68.40 per barrel.
Regarding the prices of Arab oil crudes in February 2026 from outside the OPEC basket, the average price of Omani oil in futures contracts rose to $68.42 per barrel, compared to $62.79 in January 2026, an increase of $5.63 per barrel.
The price of Dubai crude also jumped last month, recording an average of $68.26 per barrel, compared to $62.07 in January 2026, the previous month.
The average price of the OPEC crude basket recorded a positive movement last February, reaching $67.90 per barrel, compared to its levels recorded in the previous month, amounting to $62.31 per barrel.
Kuwaiti export crude topped the list of price increases by $5.89, bringing the price of a barrel to $66.61, compared to $60.72 in the previous month.
Algerian Sahara Blend crude came in second place in terms of the amount of increase at about $5.86 per barrel, bringing its price to $73.59 in February 2026, compared to about $67.73 in the previous month of January.
Saudi Arabian Light crude recorded an increase of $5.56, bringing the price of a barrel to $68.4 last month, after it was trading at an average of $62.84 in the previous month..
The price of Iraqi average Basra crude also rose by $5.49, reaching $66.77, compared to about $61.28 recorded in the first month of this year 2026.
As for the UAE’s Meriban crude, it rose by $5.46 per barrel, reaching its price of $69.45 last February, compared to an average price of $63.99 in January of the current year 2026.
While Libyan Sidr crude oil was the least affected by the rising wave, with an increase of $4.36, recording $71.14 a barrel, compared to $66.78 in January of the current year 2026.
