The Ministry of Health discusses the concerns of psychiatrists – New Algeria

According to a statement by the Ministry of Health, this meeting, which took place yesterday, Thursday, was attended by members of the central committee in charge of dialogue with the social partners, in accordance with the directives of the Minister of Health, Mohamed Siddiq Ait Masoudane, aimed at “strengthening consultation and dialogue with the social partners in the sector,” as the statement explained.
The meeting was an opportunity to listen to the various professional concerns of interest to the group of psychologists, especially those related to working conditions and the professional path, in addition to issues related to the practice of union activity in the best conditions, continues the same source.
By the way, representatives of the union presented a number of professional demands, the most important of which is “reconsidering some of the contents of the basic law regarding the category of psychologists, while correcting the imbalances recorded in it, in a way that ensures strengthening the status of this category within the health system.”
In this context, “the importance of strengthening channels of dialogue and communication between directors of health institutions and representatives of psychologists was stressed, allowing professional concerns to be raised and addressed in a participatory and constructive framework, with the need to provide appropriate conditions for practicing union work in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.”
In the midst of the meeting, the issue of “strengthening health services with the necessary means and tools to practice psychological work in the best conditions was discussed, which contributes to improving the work environment and improving the quality of psychological services provided to patients.”
For his part, Talhi stressed, “The Minister of Health is keen to improve the performance of health professionals and provide appropriate conditions to carry out their duties, which will reflect positively on the quality of patient care and the performance of the health system in general.”
He also appreciated the role played by the Algerian National Union of Psychologists, which is “an effective proposal force that contributes with constructive ideas and initiatives that would support the path of reform and development of the health system, especially in the field of mental health,” according to what the statement said.
The Secretary-General of the Ministry stressed that “the doors of dialogue and consultation will remain open,” which would “enhance participatory work among various actors in the sector, to serve the patient and improve the quality of health care.”
