Opening of the National Competition for the Algeria Award for Quran Memorization – New Algeria

Ashraf Minister of Religious Affairs and EndowmentsYoussef Belmehdi, yesterday evening, Thursday, in Algiers, at the opening of the activities of the “Algeria Award for Memorization of the Holy Qur’an”, which is organized under the High Patronage. to the President of the RepublicAbdel Majeed Tebboune.

This competition, whose activities will continue until next Monday, includes the sixth edition of the national competition for memorizing, reciting, and interpreting the Holy Qur’an, and the encouragement competition for young memorizers of the Holy Qur’an, in its 22nd edition. By the way, the Minister stated that “Algeria has become a destination visited by memorizers and readers of the Holy Qur’an from all countries of the world,” highlighting that Algeria has a reading body staffed by “more than 120 prominent professors in the science of recitations.”

Belmahdi also appreciated the efforts made by the Algerian state in this field, through the religious affairs sector, endowments and its affiliated institutions, and accompanying Quranic schools, zawiyas and other institutions that contribute to the graduation of memorizers who are proficient in the art of Tajweed and reading, recalling Algeria’s seizure of the first ranks in various international competitions for memorizing and reciting the Holy Qur’an.

In this regard, he praised the care given by the President of the Republic to this competition, and “his support for everything that would link the Algerian nation to its religious and national identity and its authentic reference.”
