The Blida Trade Directorate revealed the seizure of 46 tons of unauthorized bananas during a joint operation with the National Gendarmerie, as part of efforts to combat speculation.
In the same context, the Souk Ahras Directorate recorded the seizure of 535 banana boxes during control campaigns to ensure market abundance and price control. Some markets recorded unjustified increases in the prices of vegetables and fruits, prompting the competent authorities to intervene immediately to control prices.
The Minister of Internal Trade and Market Control, Amal Abdel Latif, previously stressed the need to regulate markets to ensure price stability. Abdel Latif revealed that a new draft law has been prepared to regulate the supply and control of the national market. This project aims to create a unified national platform to track goods, enhance the transparency of distribution networks, and reduce speculation during the month of Ramadan.
In this context, the Ministry strengthened coordination between the concerned authorities, activated transportation support in the southern states and organized neighborhood markets to ensure that materials reach citizens. In the field of supervision, a broad investment program has been implemented that includes establishing new laboratories to combat fraud and providing existing laboratories with modern anti-fraud equipment.
