The taxi union welcomes the revised version of the new traffic law – New Algeria

The National Union of Taxi Transporters appreciated the approval by the representatives of the National People’s Assembly of the amendments approved by the equal-member committee regarding a number of articles that were the subject of widespread discussion and controversy within the draft amendment to the Traffic Law, in a positive step that reflects the response to the concerns of the sector’s professionals and various road users.

The union said, in a statement, a copy of which was obtained by elhiwar us, that these amendments would enhance the protection of lives and property and contribute to consolidating a culture of respect for the traffic law, allowing it to be applied in a fairer and more effective spirit and responding to the aspirations of various road users, led by transportation professionals who form an essential part of the daily traffic system.

The National Union of Taxi Transporters praised the political will of the state to reform the legal system related to traffic, headed by the President of the Republic, appreciating at the same time the interest of the Minister of the Interior, Local Communities and Transport and his follow-up of this important file that affects the safety of citizens and the organization of professional activity at the same time. It considered that reforming and modernizing traffic signs in line with field reality is a necessary step to enhance traffic discipline, reduce accidents and ensure a clearer and more stable work environment for sector professionals. The union renewed its support for all initiatives and reforms that are in the interest of road safety and the development of the transport sector, stressing its constant readiness to contribute its opinions and proposals to serve the public interest and preserve the security and safety of road users.

The new project came with fines of several levels, and the fines in the first level amounted to 3,000 dinars, for minor violations such as: lack or absence of vehicle documents, failure to respect pedestrian crosswalks, unclean car windows, failure to wear a seat belt, failure to use child seats, defective lights or brakes,

In the second category, the fines are 4,000 DZD for medium violations, such as: violating traffic regulation, using a sound alarm illegally, crossing the solid line, modifying the car without a permit, exceeding the speed limit by up to 10%, stopping or parking illegally, and throwing waste from the car. The fines ranged from 6,000 to 9,000 DZD, and are divided into categories, where the first category is 6,000 DZD, and is related to speeding. 10% to 20%, the driver without a seat belt, the bike driver without a helmet, transporting a child under 10 years old in the front seat, and transporting passengers illegally., As for the second category, which starts from 7,000 to 9,000 DZD, it is related to overloading vehicles, and in the event of a repeated violation, more severe penalties are applied. As for the fourth category, it is related to a fine of 10,000 DZD, and is concerned with the most serious violations, which include: failure to respect priority, prohibited overtaking, driving in a forbidden direction, and failure to stop at a stop sign.
