The Minister of the Interior, Local Communities and Urban Planning, Al-Saeed Saeed, supervised a ceremony honoring women of national security and pioneering women in various fields, on the occasion of International Women’s Day, which falls on March 8 of each year.
The ceremony, which was hosted by the Ali Tounsi Police Higher School, took place yesterday evening, Saturday, in Algiers, in the presence of a number of executives and personalities, where women who distinguished themselves in their professional paths were honored, including female mujahideen, ministers, senior executives, and employees of the National Security Service and the Joint Corps, in addition to executives from several sectors and media professionals.
Saioud stressed in a speech he delivered on the occasion that March 8 represents a global symbolic milestone for honoring women and celebrating their struggle and contributions in various fields of life, noting that Algerian women have, throughout history, formed a model of heroism and sacrifice and contributed to the process of liberation and state building.
He added that Algerian women today continue to play a pioneering role in the path of construction and development, as they have proven their presence in various sectors, including regular institutions, most notably the National Security Service, which includes more than 20,000 women who perform their duties in various security and leadership specializations.
The Minister also highlighted that women have been able to hold leadership positions and contribute efficiently to strengthening security and serving society, in addition to their pivotal role in building the family and consolidating national values, stressing that the progress they have achieved reflects the support provided by the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, to raise the status of women and enable them to participate effectively in the path of development and decision-making.
For his part, the Director General of National Security, Ali Badawi, confirmed, in a speech read on his behalf by Police Governor Sohaila Hamel, that Algerian women have written bright pages throughout history in defending the nation and preserving its sovereignty, praising their continued role alongside men in serving Algeria and strengthening its institutions.
