Lavrov: “Driving a wedge” between Iran and the Gulf is one of the goals of the war – Algerian Al-Hiwar newspaper

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov confirmed on Thursday that the military operations launched by America and Israel against Iran represent a direct threat to the stability of the region and the global economy, noting that one of the goals of these operations is to create a division between the countries of the Middle East.

Lavrov said – during the “round table” meeting on settling the situation related to Ukraine – that one of the goals of the war on Tehran is “to drive a wedge between Iran and the Gulf states.”

Since the beginning of the war, Iran has responded by launching missile salvos and drones towards Israel and American bases in Gulf countries, some of which caused damage to civilian facilities, including airports, ports, and various buildings.

The Russian Minister also explained that the current crisis in the Middle East may lead to serious consequences for the entire world, expressing his conviction that there are disagreements within the United States itself regarding the true goals of the ongoing operation in Iran.
