World Health warns of the effects of war on health facilities in Iran

The Director-General of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, expressed his deep concern about the negative effects of the American and Zionist raids on health facilities in Iran. In a blog post on the “X” platform, Ghebreyesus pointed out that the continuation of the conflict greatly affects health services, as medical facilities, their workers, and patients are exposed to damage.

Ghebreyesus added that the explosions that occurred near the “Martyr Motahhari” Hospital in Tehran caused significant damage to the facility, which led to the evacuation of patients and medical staff. He also explained that emergency centers in the cities of Sarb and Hamedan were damaged, resulting in the injury of many health sector workers.

Ghebreyesus called on all parties to take measures to protect the health sector, stressing the need to ensure that health facilities, medical staff and patients are not targeted in times of conflict. He also noted that “the best medicine is peace,” expressing the importance of maintaining the safety of health institutions at all times.

Since Saturday, the United States and Israel have been waging a military aggression against Iran, resulting in hundreds of deaths, including Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and security officials. In turn, Tehran responded with missile and drone attacks on the Zionist entity and some American bases in the region, causing casualties and damage in some neighboring countries.
