Algeria is working to consolidate its regional position in the field of organ transplantation

The Minister of Health, Mohamed Siddiq Ait Messaoudane, called for the need to raise the challenge of organ transplantation in Algeria and work to revive this field, in a way that enhances the capabilities of the health system and consolidates the country’s regional and continental position in the field of organ transplantation.

According to a statement by the Ministry of Health, the Minister of Health, Professor Mohamed Siddiq Ait Masoudan, appointed Professor Ahmed Nakhla, a specialist in thoracic and arterial surgery and kidney transplantation, as Director General of the National Organ Transplantation Agency.

The inauguration ceremony took place at the headquarters of the National Agency for Organ Transplantation, in the presence of the Director General of the Algerian Agency for International Cooperation for Solidarity and Development, Hallouz Abed, along with the frameworks of the central administration of the Ministry of Health and the frameworks of the National Agency for Organ Transplantation.

On this occasion, the Minister congratulated the new Director General, wishing him success in his new duties. He also praised his distinguished professional path, appreciating his scientific efforts and valuable contributions to the development of this vital and important field.

The same speaker stressed the need to raise the challenge of organ transplantation and work to revive this field again, in a way that strengthens the capabilities of the health system and consolidates Algeria’s position regionally and continentally in the field of organ transplantation.

The Minister of Health also stressed the importance of joint work and permanent coordination between various actors to create a new dynamic in this vital field, calling for team work and unifying efforts to raise the level of performance and contribute effectively to supporting the national health system.

Algeria has recently intensified its work to reactivate the National Agency for Organ Transplantation and create a national donation registry, emphasizing that the success of the national program depends on the clarity of the legal reference that enhances donation confidence.
