The Algerian Football Association shocks the African Confederation again

CAF officials approached their counterparts in the Algerian Football Federation, presenting to them the idea of Algeria hosting the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations finals.
Faf rejected the idea outright, according to what French journalist Romain Molina revealed.
Morocco implicated the Executive Office of the Confederation of African Football, after informing it of the impossibility of organizing the competition within the previously specified deadlines, that is, between March 17 and April 3, 2026.
Morocco claimed that they were not ready for the continental event, thus contradicting the statements of CAF President, South African Patrice Motsepe, who insisted on holding the competition on time after the executive office meeting in Tanzania on February 13 last.
Magic turns against the magician
Patrice Motsepe and his Moroccan first deputy, Faouzi Lekkaa, praised at length the strong partnership and mutual trust between the Moroccan Football Federation and the African Confederation.
It seems that this relationship has been shaken recently after the end of the African Cup of Nations hosted by Morocco, especially in the wake of the events witnessed in the final match between the organizing country and Senegal.
The chaos of the final confrontation, in which the Teranga Lions regained control, was reflected in the CAF governing body, where a sharp dispute broke out between senior officials.
The first consequences of this dispute surfaced, as the Moroccan Federation quickly refused to host the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, a decision that would expose it to harsh penalties.
Motsepe and his group of refuge did nothing but win over Algeria to save the situation, but the Algerian Federation, led by President Walid Sadi, renewed its adherence to its previous position of focusing on developing local football and staying away from running to organize continental competitions.
Algeria’s position is due to the dirty game played by the African Union behind the scenes of the bid to host the 35th edition of the African Cup of Nations in 2023.
Algeria then withdrew from the candidacy race after receiving leaks indicating that the organization had been assigned to Morocco.
