A total lunar eclipse on Tuesday coincides with the full moon of Ramadan – Algerian Al-Hiwar newspaper

Next Tuesday, the world will witness a total lunar eclipse lasting about 58 minutes, coinciding with the full moon of the month of Ramadan for the year 1447 AH, when the Earth’s shadow will cover more than 115% of the moon’s surface.

The National Institute for Astronomical Research explained that the phenomenon will be visible in large areas of Eastern Europe, Asia, and Australia, in addition to the Americas, the Atlantic and Indian Oceans, as well as the North and South Poles.

It is expected that all stages of the eclipse, from its beginning to its end, will take about 5 hours and 39 minutes, including 3 hours and 27 minutes for the partial eclipse.

The institute confirmed that observing a lunar eclipse is completely safe and does not pose any danger to the eyes, unlike a solar eclipse, which requires the use of special glasses. It pointed out that this astronomical phenomenon contributes to verifying the beginning of the lunar months, as it occurs when the moon is full and the Earth is between it and the sun, so the moon enters its shadow and appears dark.
