The Iranian Revolutionary Guard targets the American aircraft carrier and oil tankers – Algerian Al-Hiwar newspaper

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard announced, on Sunday, that it had targeted the US aircraft carrier Abraham Lincoln with four ballistic missiles in the Gulf, the day after the US-Israeli attack that killed the Iranian Supreme Leader.
The Revolutionary Guard warned in a statement reported by local media that “land and sea will increasingly become a graveyard for terrorist aggressors.” For its part, the US Army confirmed that the carrier was not hit, and that the Iranian missiles did not approach the target. The “Abraham Lincoln” is one of the two aircraft carriers that Washington sent to the region, and it is the closest to the Iranian coast.
In the context of the Iranian response, the Revolutionary Guard announced that it targeted 3 American and British oil tankers with missiles in the Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz, causing damage to commercial ships. Shipping data showed high risks to commercial shipping, with more than 200 ships anchored around the Strait of Hormuz and surrounding waters.
The Omani Maritime Security Center stated that an oil tanker flying the Palau flag was attacked off the Musandam Peninsula, wounding four people, while other tankers were damaged off the coast of the Sultanate of Oman and the Emirates.
The US Maritime Administration recommended that commercial ships stay away from the Strait of Hormuz and the Gulf of Oman, and maintain a distance of 30 nautical miles from US military ships to reduce the risk of targeting, warning also of the possibility of Iranian forces planting mines in the narrow passages of the Strait.
