Accelerating dynamics in the development and maintenance of roads in Algeria

Witnessing the development and maintenance of roads in Algeria, Accelerated dynamism, responding to local development requirements and devoting the highest standards of quality and safety in delivery, with the aim of improving transport and transportation conditions and ensuring the safety of road users.

The Ministry of Works explained in a statement, Thursday, that great efforts are being made by the public works directorates in the various states of the country in the field of developing and maintaining the road network, with the aim of improving transport and movement conditions and ensuring the safety of road users, and the sample is from the states of El Bayadh, Bouira, Bejaia, El Tarf, Naama, Touggourt and Ouargla.

Work on the dual project of National Road No. 06, Al-Baidh State, continues, as the institution in charge of completion continues to lay the layer of crushed gravel at the level of the sabkha area, along with supplying and laying the stone layer, within the framework of the second part of the project. Rehabilitation works on National Road No. 109 are also continuing, with strict adherence to technical standards and quality of completion. Works have also been restarted in the state of Illizi on the State Road No. 2 project, which connects Oued Semman-Borj Omar Idriss, at a distance of 210 km from kilometer 150 to 360.

The Bouira State Works Department has modernized State Road No. 93, a distance of 20 km through the municipalities of Lakhdaria, Maala and Zbarbar. The works include laying a layer of crushed gravel and constructing water drainage facilities. Works also continue to complete the duality of National Road No. 08 (the first part, 17 km) in the municipalities of Sur Al-Ghizlan and Deira, with the completion of four pedestrian overpasses.

In the province of Bejaia, work is also underway to strengthen the double sections of National Road No. 09 over a distance of 8 km, from kilometer 11+500 to 15+500, from 16+500 to 19+000, and from 22+500 to 24+000, within the framework of the project that aims to enhance the road’s capacity and improve the level of service and safety.

The Public Works Department in the state of Al-Tarf also resurfaced National Road No. 16 with asphalt concrete, as it is one of the important projects aimed at enhancing the safety and flow of traffic, while strictly adhering to technical standards to ensure the quality of completion and the sustainability of the works.

The Ministry added that in Naama State, sand removal operations are being carried out at the level of National Road No. 06 between the municipalities of Al-Mashreya and Naama, in order to maintain the flow of traffic, by maintenance teams in the Public Works Sub-Division in Naama District. Work is also continuing to rebuild technical facilities and complete protective walls on the edges of the roads, as part of repairing the damage resulting from recent weather fluctuations.

Sand removal and public space expansion work continues on National Road No. 124 between kilometers 164 and 166, in the state of Touggourt, as well as on National Road No. 03 between points 615 and 617, in addition to National Road No. 124 between points 215 and 216.

This continuing field dynamism confirms the keenness of the Public Works Directorates to increase the capacity of the road network, and to maintain and modernize it, in a way that responds to the requirements of local development and dedicates the highest standards of quality and safety in completion.
