The Ministry of Education warns of unjustified absences during the second semester – Algerian Al-Hiwar newspaper

I registered Ministry of National Education Unexplained absences among students during the second semester, especially during the month of Ramadan, based on field inspections of student attendance in educational institutions, especially the final-year sections in high school.
The Ministry explained, in a statement issued by the General Directorate of Education, that repeated absences negatively affect the level of academic achievement and students’ readiness to pass the baccalaureate exam.
The Directorate confirmed that baccalaureate exam topics are among the lessons scheduled to be completed in person and scheduled within the official programmes, calling on students and their parents to ensure regular attendance.
It also stressed to secondary school principals the need to strictly follow up on the absences of students and teachers, and to activate the relevant legal and regulatory texts. It called on teachers to present the scheduled lessons regardless of the number of attendees, with the obligation to write them down in text books.
She called on education directors to intensify field follow-up and take appropriate measures to reduce the phenomenon of unjustified absences.
