“FAF” begins steps to renew Petkovic’s contract – New Algeria

The Algerian Football Federation (FAF) has begun the steps to renew the contract of the national team coach, Vladimir Petkovic, which expires next summer.

The contract of the Algerian national football team coach, Swiss Vladimir Petkovic, with the Algerian Football Federation will expire immediately after the end of the “Greens” participation in the 2026 World Cup finals, scheduled from June 11 to July 19 of the current year, in the United States of America, Mexico and Canada.

Some reported Informed sourcesIn the past few hours, the Algerian Football Federation took the first step towards extending Petkovic’s contract.

FAF President Walid Sadi made an official offer to the Swiss coach. This is done through his agent to renew the contract, while maintaining the same financial benefits that he has obtained for the past two years.

It is worth noting that Vladimir Petkovic assumed the presidency of the Algerian national team’s technical staff in March 2024, succeeding Djamel Belmadi, whose duties were ended after the “Greens”‘ early exit from the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations finals, which took place at the beginning of the year 2024 in Côte d’Ivoire.

Petkovic has succeeded in achieving the main goals included in his current contract with the Algerian national team. Which includes qualifying the “Desert Warriors” to the finals of the 2026 World Cup and reaching the advanced stages of the final session of “Cannes 2025”.

Algeria will compete in the 2026 World Cup finals, in Group H, along with Argentina, Jordan and Austria. The Greens will begin the competition on June 17 by facing the Argentine national team at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, USA.
