The Mauritanian Minister of Energy is on a working visit to Algeria to strengthen partnership in the energy sector – Algerian Al-Hiwar newspaper

Today, Sunday, the Minister of Energy and Oil of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, Mohamed Ould Khaled, embarks on a two-day working visit to Algeria, accompanied by a high-level delegation that includes officials from the most prominent Mauritanian institutions active in the energy sector, including the Mauritanian Hydrocarbons Company (SMH), the Mauritanian Electricity Company (SOMELEC), and the Mauritanian Refining Company (SOMIR), in addition to a number of ministry officials.

This visit falls within the framework of strengthening fraternal and cooperative relations between Algeria and Mauritania, and embodying the common will to advance bilateral partnership, especially in the fields of hydrocarbons, mines, energy, renewable energies, and training.

During the visit, the Mauritanian minister will hold talks with the Minister of State, Minister of Hydrocarbons and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, as well as the Minister of Energy and Renewable Energies, Murad Ajal, where ways to expand bilateral cooperation, exchange experiences, and explore opportunities for partnership and investment in projects of common interest will be discussed.

The visit program also includes working meetings with officials of the Sonatrach and Sonelgaz complexes, to learn about the Algerian experience in the fields of exploration and production, developing energy infrastructure, and managing the electricity and gas systems, in addition to training and capacity-building programs.

This visit reflects the positive dynamic that characterizes Algerian-Mauritanian relations, and the common desire to enhance strategic cooperation and promote integration in the energy field, in a way that serves the common interests of the two countries and supports the path of sustainable development.
