Conclusion of the first national exercise to simulate cyberattacks to enhance digital security – Algerian Al-Hiwar newspaper

The Minister of Posts and Telecommunications, Sayed Ali Zerrougui, participated in the closing activities of the first sectoral exercise to simulate cyber attacks and the cyber hackathon, which were organized by the Ministry within the framework of enhancing the readiness of national institutions to confront cyber threats, with the participation of various sector institutions.

In his speech on the occasion, the Minister stressed that strengthening cybersecurity constitutes a fundamental pillar for achieving national digital sovereignty, which is considered one of Algeria’s strategic priorities in light of the accelerating digital transformation. He recalled the directives of the President of the Republic calling for developing an integrated national digital strategy based on proactiveness, enhancing the protection of information systems, and establishing a citizen and responsible digital culture to ensure the security of national cyberspace and the sustainability of its development.

Zerrougui praised the distinguished technical level demonstrated by the participants in the cyber hackathon, considering that this reflects the great potential enjoyed by Algerian youth, stressing that investing in young energies represents a strategic option to ensure a safe and sustainable digital transformation. He also gave special appreciation to the students of the National Higher School of Information, Communication and Postal Technologies and all the participants who contributed to the success of this scientific and technical demonstration.

The final program included a simulation of several cyber attack scenarios, including phishing operations, digital ransom attacks, and denial of service attacks, in addition to presenting and discussing the results of the exercise, and organizing a thematic symposium on cyber security and skills development in light of the current challenges, as well as opening an interactive discussion with the audience to answer the various questions of the participants.
