Algeria…diplomatic achievements and a key actor in building the African continent – the new Algeria

Political analysts and academic researchers unanimously agreed that Algeria’s appointment as head of the Forum of Heads of State and Government of the African Assessment Mechanism constituted a new turning point in the history of Algerian diplomacy, which put all its weight into dealing effectively with African issues and produced many results, including: strengthening the role of the mechanism in conflict prevention and making progress in the African Affiliation Classification Agency project. This is considered its second achievement on the diplomatic level after its presidency of the UN Security Council, as it succeeded in Strengthening its presence on the international scene as an influential and active party in decision-making centers within the international forum after extracting tangible diplomatic gains thanks to its approach based on defending just causes and keenness to find peaceful solutions to conflicts and contributing to shaping the features of an international system that enshrines sustainable peace in the world..
In this context, Dr. Abdel-Razzaq Gharraf, a senior researcher at the Gulf Research Center – Riyadh, says: “Algeria’s presidency of this forum can be placed within the historical contexts of the historical Algerian role at the continental level and at the level of the African Union, whether in terms of the intra-partnership between this continental body and Algeria, which has always supported the union at all levels, such as settling disputes in Africa, or in confronting international challenges such as financing policies. Algeria has contributed to financing many development projects and unifying the common African position.” Concerning many regional and international issues.”
The speaker believes that “the forum witnessed tangible progress at all levels, especially at the level of governance, by which we mean the re-engineering of what the continent witnessed in the first decade, especially after the 2002 World Summit on Sustainable Development was held in South Africa and the Benghazi Summit, which was held on February 27 and 28, 2004, which adopted the principle of establishing the African Union as an alternative to the Organization of African Unity.” Dr. Abdel-Razzaq Gharraf confirms that “the expansion of The participation of organizers in the forum, such as South Africa and Senegal, is conclusive evidence of the desire of many African poles to benefit from the experience and role that Algeria plays in the first place, and the number of participants under its banner has reached 45 countries.”
In light of the changes occurring in the international political structure due to economic, military, cultural and technological changes, the spokesman says that “the African continent is in dire need of strengthening inter-African joint action, especially since it has turned into one of the most important circles of global polarization as a raw continent due to its huge, unexploited natural resources, such as rare minerals and renewable and fossil energies. Therefore, it is in dire need of the weight of its pivotal countries, not the Quartet: Egypt, Algeria, Nigeria and South Africa.” Africa,” and what Algeria is credited with, according to the speaker, is that it “took the forum out of the evaluative framework and transformed it into a comprehensive tool that contributes to enhancing joint action among African countries.”
For his part, Dr. Djilali Chakroun, a political analyst, says, “Algeria’s participation in this forum constitutes an inevitable political and economic necessity, given that it constitutes one of the most important continental and African countries. Today, it seeks to reconsider building a developed Africa that seeks to eliminate many internal problems at the political and economic level, most of which are crises that hinder development on the continent. Therefore, it is required to strengthen cooperation and joint action to confront poverty, illegal immigration, and climate challenges because The international community did not give it what it needed to confront these phenomena.”
Algeria is considered a strategic actor and a fundamental pillar in the African continent, as its contributions, according to Dr. Djilali Chakroun, are based on the material aspect, as it had previously provided one million dollars for solidarity and contribution to advancing development in the African continent, which was confirmed by the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, in the speech he addressed to the participants in the work of the 35th summit of the Forum of Heads of State and Government of the African Peer Evaluation Mechanism.”MAEP“, held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and read on his behalf by Prime Minister Sefi Gharib, who said that “the country made a voluntary financial contribution of one million dollars in support of the mechanism, which allowed the programming and implementation of three new country assessments, including two assessments directed to Sao Tome and Principe and Zimbabwe, in addition to the second assessment for Sierra Leone.”
The speaker points out that “Algeria is also seeking to implement what is known as sustainable development, and the President of the Republic referred to it in the speech he delivered when he stressed the necessity of reclaiming agricultural lands in order to achieve self-sufficiency for the African continent.” And eliminating illegal immigration.”
