Attaf said in his speech today, in the capital Addis AbabaThe holding of the summit is of great importance in the important international context, which threatens the marginalization of Africa and the absence of its issues and priorities, as well as the neutralization of its voice, stressing the need not to be preoccupied with the immediate aspects and the organization’s progress, as he said, “Rather, the preoccupation must extend to establishing a forward-looking social vision that accurately identifies the dangers and threats that lie in wait for us all, and then adapt our joint work to the challenges that surround us.”

The Minister of State also called for the reconsideration of the African unitary project as an indispensable strategic option to preserve the common destiny of the peoples of the continent, in a turbulent world that requires African countries to strengthen coordination and solidarity to protect their interests and respond to the aspirations of their people.

He also renewed Algeria’s support for every effort aimed at strengthening… African Union Getting it out of the logic of self-sufficiency, while strengthening its presence continentally and internationally, and enabling it to deal realistically and responsibly with the current challenges, whether continental or global.

It is noteworthy that the ministerial meeting held today comes in preparation for the 39th African Union Summit scheduled for February 14 and 15, to discuss a number of issues and files related to the role and status of joint African action in addressing the most important political, security and development challenges facing the continent.

Among the most important topics on the table of African foreign ministers is studying the report of the 51st regular session of the Permanent Representatives Committee of the African Union, which was held between January 12 and 30 last year, as well as reviewing the report on the African Union’s participation in the G20, and adopting the reports of the presidential committees of the African Center for Disease Control and Prevention, in addition to the mechanism of the New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD), the G10 for reform of the United Nations Security Council and climate change.
