The first men’s national handball team is ranked fourth before the World Championship draw is held in the German city of Munich on June 10.
Germany will host the competition for the seventh time in its history, during the period from January 13 to 31, 2027.
19 teams secured their places in the World Championship, including the national team that finished its participation in the recent African Championship in Rwanda in fourth place.
The Algerian sevens team, under the management of coach Saleh Bouchkario, was defeated in the ranking confrontation against the Cape Verde Islands, losing the opportunity to move to the third level with the Tunisian national team, the runner-up in the tournament.
The defending champion, the Egyptian team, secured its presence among the elite teams, similar to the world champion, the Danish team, after winning the tenth title in its history.
For its part, the International Federation ranked the national team alongside the runner-up of the Asian Championship, Qatar, Kuwait, Japan, Angola (fifth in Africa) and Uruguay.
The number of fourth-level teams will increase later, after the International Federation announces the holders of the two wild cards.
Algeria ranked thirtieth in the world during the previous edition in Norway, Croatia and Denmark, last year, under the leadership of coach Farouk Dhili.
The International Handball Federation revealed the program of matches for the 30th edition of the World Championship.
The competition matches are distributed across six German cities: Munich, Stuttgart, Kiel, Magdeburg, Hanover and Cologne.
The 32 participating teams are divided into eight groups, with the top three from each group qualifying for the main round, while the last-placed team will compete in the President’s Cup and then the ranking matches.
The organizing committee was keen to give each team a day of rest after each match, in accordance with the principle of equal opportunities and avoiding fatigue among the players.
